My glorious king dontai
dontai can feel however he wants and chat can meatride him too but that komugi and meruem scene got me crying
Yea ngl this arc so overrated tbh. Its good but not THAT good
Yorknew city arc>
Wait was komigu supposed to symbolize his mother
How poetic is it, that Meruem, "The light that illuminates all," has his world illuminated by a blind girl that has known and seen nothing but darkness her whole life.
🥹… she was very annoying but all she could do was play to her strengths. She gained our respect because of how she stayed beside the King.
The "are you there" was low-key getting me 🥲
Gon became a monster while the king became more human :sob:
This episode has me in tears when I watch it. It’s the arc that changes the characters in a darker way than the ones before, and though it has its flaws, it’s still very enjoyable.
This arc is really good but you will only notice how good it really is on the second viewing/reading. I remember reading it as a teenager and feeling kinda disappointed but once you understand the themes and all that and you go back, you will notice even more that the story is trying to say but it gets lost in the mix. Because of the pacing and how much happens it's hard to take it all in at once on the first viewing. Also komugi is supposed to be a character you don't care about at first. She's a pathetic country bumpkin who is weak, not smart and can't do anything but play gungi. Seeing this pathetic character somehow managing to never lose to this "superior being" and teach him that there is more to life is what makes her interesting so people hyping her up completely ruined it. Btw this whole arc is kind of a parody of shonen manga like dragon ball or Naruto. That's probably why meruem's design is so close to cell. It's perfect cell but understanding that perfection isn't only physical strength but also virtue. The story is setup in a way that you expect them to face the big bad guy and come out triumphant but instead of using the classic shonen formula, the story actually treats everyone like real characters and you end up even feeling for meruem. At the end it feels like meruem is the main character of this arc and not the just an antagonist that must be defeated. There is a lot of subversion of shonen tropes like gon's transformation being grotesque and selfish (even childish if you think about it) as opposed to virtuous or heroic like in most manga. I could write a whole book on this arc alone so I'm gonna stop here but I hope you either read the manga or rewatch the anime someday. I've read the whole manga 5 times at least and Everytime was a bit different because you pick up on little details that make you look at things very differently. That's why HxH will always be my #1.
W hantavirus
even tho this is my least favorite arc, the Komugi and Meruem dynamic was one of my favorite parts of this whole series. RIP to both of em, I cried a whole lot the first time i watched this ngl. fuck pouf tho he on pack watch i hated that guy lmaoooo
Eyes filled with tears and dontai on the screen like😐. 😭😭
Thanks for sharing your reaction and the longer thoughts on this
The reunion between mereum and komugi was kinda beautiful
you know 99% of the komugi hate coming because of the dub voice
This chat has no attention span bro holy shi
For me its more the effect that SHE had on the king, even if it wasnt her intention. She didnt treat him like a monster because she couldnt see what he looked like. She didnt blind herself to achieve, it just is. In a sense she saw the person despite being blind meanwhile those with sight only ever saw a monster. Quite poetic
I must say the watching experience is a lot different when your not just flying through episodes all day like I did. Watching it with Dontai, I had to question my memory, like that pacing was on a whole other level of bad.
I loved this 🥲
This episode was painful
I'm glad he sees the importance/value of her character, that's all.
How far ngas will go for pcy
